James Wooten Is North Carolina Aquarium - Roanoke Island's New Volunteer Coordinator
Roanoke Island, NC - James Wooten started his new job as the North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island volunteer coordinator on December 15, 2008. With over 100 volunteers serving the Aquarium in many different jobs, Wooten brings energy and knowledge to this position. Pat Raves, education curator said, “James comes to the aquarium with excellent qualifications and he was the perfect choice to lead our team of volunteers.” Wooten said, “During my short time at the aquarium I’ve been amazed at the level of dedication our volunteers bring, and how necessary they are for the aquarium to function so well. They are a fantastic group and have given me a very warm welcome. I’m looking forward to working with each of them and future volunteers from the community.” James comes back home to North Carolina where he grew up and went to college. For the past two years he has been teaching marine biology on Catalina Island, CA.
