Valentine's Day Kicks Off Twycross Zoo's Mating Season
Twycross, UK - Valentine’s Day is truly the start of the mating season, this is when lots of the animals at Twycross Zoo start cooing and billing and making new partnerships. If wild animals tug at your heartstrings, there is no better place to visit than Twycross Zoo, this Valentine’s Day, Saturday 14th February. There will be lots of monkeying around as it’s the home of the world’s largest collection of primates with more than 50 species and 300 primates on site. On cupid’s day visitors can enter a competition to feed our three giraffes Kaya, Keisha and Justin at 3.00 pm; forms are only available from the Zoo’s Information Centre on Saturday 14th February. To carry on the love theme of St Valentine’s Day, make the acquaintance of the only group of breeding bonobos in the country. Twycross Zoo currently has 11 of these Of course, the Zoo is also an ideal fun place for a family day out anytime, particularly during next week’s half-term holiday when you can enjoy one of the daily short story telling sessions or watch the sea lions and penguins feeding sessions. Twycross is a popular visitor attraction for families and school children welcoming over 500,000 visitors annually. Opening times for visitors are summer 10.00 am – 5.30 pm and winter 10.00 am - 4.00 pm; the Zoo is open 364 days a year only closing Christmas Day. Twycross has informal and formal education programmes for all sectors of society about wildlife conservation. We incorporate our animals wherever possible into regional and global breeding programmes to aid species conservation. We have developed environmental enrichment programmes to give our animals a fulfilled life, both physically and mentally.
