Pam Pittman And Michele Lamping Win North Carolina Aquarium Awards
Atlantic Beach, NC - The North Carolina Aquarium Society recently honored two employees at the North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores for outstanding performance and commitment. Registrar Pam Pittman was chosen for the 2008 Customer Service Award. Aquarist Michele Lamping was recognized with the 2008 Award of Excellence. Pittman, who’s been with the Aquarium for more than 15 years, assists in registering thousands of visitors each year in Aquarium special activities, such as field trips, group tours and other programs. She also annually coordinates hundreds of school group visits. Lamping has worked at the Aquarium for three years, and provides care to many aquatic animals, including sea turtle hatchlings. The membership-based North Carolina Aquarium Society supports programs and activities at the three North Carolina Aquariums – at Pine Knoll Shores, at Fort Fisher and on Roanoke Island. Annual membership includes free admission to the Aquariums and the North Carolina Zoo. A family membership is $50; an individual membership is $30. The Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Admission is $8 for adults, $7 for ages 62 and over, $6 for children 6-17; no charge for children 5 and under and North Carolina Aquarium Society members.
