New York Aquarium's Director Joins Polar Bear Club - What Was He Wearing?

Brooklyn, NY - Wildlife Conservation Society’s (WCS) New York Aquarium Director, Jon Forrest Dohlin (right) made a splash at the annual Coney Island Polar Bear New Year’s Day plunge along with Polar Bear member Capri Djatiasmoro (left). Dohlin joined in this fun event to create awareness of global warming and the plight to polar bears in the wild. In the last 50 years, global climate changes have dramatically decreased the sea ice on which polar bears depend. There are currently an estimated 25,000 polar bears in the wild, but their extinction within this century is possible. A Wildlife Conservation Society park, the New York Aquarium, opens every day of the year at 10am, and closing times vary seasonally. Admission is $13.00 for adults, $9.00 for children ages 3-12 and $10.00 for senior citizens (65 and older); children under 3 years of age are admitted free. Fridays after 3pm, admission is by suggested donation. The Aquarium is located on Surf Avenue at West 8th Street in Coney Island.
