London Zoo Will Inventory Their Animals January 8, 2009
By Lynsey Ford
London, UK - ZSL London Zoo takes stock of its inhabitants in its annual stocktake.
Forget counting yourself to sleep with sheep …how about having to count lions, tigers and gorillas?
ZSL London Zoo’s annual stocktake, which is a complete head count of every animal in the Zoo, will be taking place on Thursday 8th of January 2009.
With more than 650 different species to tally up including penguins, squirrel monkeys and zebras the keepers have got quite a task on their hands.
The last year has been a bumper year for ZSL London Zoo… with baby animals including Harry the Zoo’s first warthog to be born in nearly 100 years and Conchita, the UK’s first hand reared white-naped mangabey whose Video Diary has inspired over 350,000 YouTube hits.
All will be included in the new count which photographers are invited to attend.

I think we should move on from having dolphins in captivity now - we all know this isn't good for them.

The Pacaya Samiria National Reserve is a magical place. The flora, fauna, remoteness and beauty are exquisite. Another interesting aspect is how the indigenous people there live.
