Adopt A Philadelphia Zoo Polar Bear And The Zoo Will Feed, House, And Take Care Of Her For You
Philadelphia, PA - The Philadelphia Zoo’s female polar bears, Coldilocks and Klondike, are received their holiday presents early this year thanks to the Zoo’s ADOPT (Animals Depend On People Too) Program, which helps to provide care and enrichment for the Zoo’s animals. On Thursday, November 20, at 10:00 a.m. the polar bears received enrichment presents and some special fishy holiday treats. To show their gratitude, the girls helped launch a special new holiday Zoo ADOPT gift package. The new Zoo holiday ADOPT package features penguins, tigers or polar bears, and is available for only $65.00 and includes a color photo, fact sheet of the ADOPTed animal, a certificate of “parentage,” an invitation to the Zoo’s ADOPT day in October, a plush of the animal and a specially-created gift box. The proceeds from the ADOPT program go directly to animal food and habitat maintenance, allowing families to connect to wildlife and the environment we share. Guests interested in bringing animal discovery into a person’s life can log on to www.philadelphiazoo.org or call (215) ADOPT ME to ADOPT an animal today. The Philadelphia Zoo’s online Zoo Shop is also a great place to one-stop-shop for other wonderful holiday gifts this season. The “Shop at the Zoo” section of the Zoo’s website offers some of the most wonderful and “wild” gifts around with the convenience of fast online service. Choose from dozens of wild gift options including year-round Zoo family memberships which start at only $94, animal plushes, mugs, books, Zoo apparel and more! Shoppers can also choose to go “green” by getting helpful tips about greening the holidays on the Zoo’s website and off-set their own carbon footprint by participating in the Zoo’s “Footprints” carbon offset program. Philadelphia Zoo, America's First Zoo, is preparing to celebrate the 150th anniversary of its founding. Chartered by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania on March 21, 1859, the Zoo is currently home to over 1,300 animals from around the world, many rare and endangered.
