Seattle, OR - Chomp, chomp, stomp, stomp are the sights and sounds of animals enjoying pumpkins at Woodland Park Zoo’s Pumpkin Bash. To kick off the weekend event of pumpkin treats for the animals, keepers will toss pumpkins to the hippos.

The pumpkin treats are part of the zoo’s ongoing enrichment program to help enrich the lives of the zoo’s animals, promote natural animal behavior, keep animals mentally stimulated and provide added enjoyment for visitors.

Three female hippos live at the zoo’s award-winning African Savanna: 45-year-old Gertie, 30-year-old Water Lily and 9-year-old Guadalupe.
