Paignton, UK - Paignton Zoo Environmental Park is helping local businesses to promote their environmentally-friendly ideas during its first ever Green Solutions Festival.

The free event runs from Tuesday 28th October to Thursday 30th October during half term week. It is a chance for local people to pick up free information and advice and to find out more about green schemes like car-sharing and recycling.

Paignton Zoo’s Vicki Barnes said: “Our Green Solutions Festival is showing people how easy it is to reduce your impact on the environment without changing your lifestyle. The green option is often the thrifty option, too – and now is a great time to be saving money.”

In the activity tent:
* Between 12:00midday and 4:00pm on Tuesday, South Devon College and Occombe Farm will be running cooking demonstrations with Castles Kitchens to show what great dishes you can prepare with regional, seasonal food. They will also focus on what to do with kitchen waste with the help of Rolypig.com
* Wednesday - Devon County Council and the Cycle Circus with Andrei Burton will perform their breathtaking bike show
* Wednesday and Thursday - the Met Office is running experiments to show how storms and other weather fronts are created. You can also try your hand at being a weather reporter
* Thursday - Valcent will be demonstrating and explaining plant tissue culture (also known as micro-propagation) and natural plant propagation systems
