Houston, TX - Meet one of the world’s great wildlife photographers and enjoy a day of photography and fun at the Houston Zoo’s Photo Day on Saturday, December 12, 2009.

The Houston Zoo opens its gates 2 hours early at 7 a.m. allowing Photo Day ticket holders to take advantage of the morning light and cooler weather to capture memorable shots of some of the Zoo’s early risers.

At 9:00 a.m. Photo Day participants will be treated to a special presentation and question and answer session at the Houston Zoo’s Karamu Outpost with award winning wildlife photographer Andy Biggs. BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year in 2008, Andy has led photographic safaris to Tanzania, Botswana, and Namibia celebrating the African landscape and its rich wildlife, people and culture. Andy uses camera formats ranging from 35mm to 4 X 5 large format to the latest in digital camera technologies.

Photo Day ticket holders can enjoy a continental breakfast and can take advantage of specially scheduled photo opportunities and activities, or just roam the Zoo grounds at their leisure taking photos of all the Houston Zoo has to offer until our normally scheduled closing time of 6 p.m.

The Pacaya Samiria National Reserve is a magical place.  The flora, fauna, remoteness and beauty are exquisite.  Another interesting aspect is how the indigenous people there live.  To learn more and see photos  taken by indigenous children in the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, you can visit ninosdelaamazonia.org
