Elephants, Orangutans, and Kangaroos Receive Early Gifts at Fresno Chaffee Zoo

Fresno, CA - On Saturday, December 12, Zoo staff will celebrate the holidays by giving presents to the animals in their care. These specially wrapped gifts of food will be delivered throughout the day during the Fresno Chaffee Zoo’s Santa Paws enrichment event. The Zoo’s enrichment program is designed to stimulate natural behaviors in the animals such as foraging and play.

Elephants, Orangutans, Lemurs and birds will be among the animals that will get a chance to rip the wrapping off tasty treats. Zoo visitors can pick up a schedule of feedings as they enter the Zoo’s wild wonderland on December 12.

11:30 Red Ruffed Lemurs

1:00 Asian Elephants

1:30 Black-footed cats

Fresno Chaffee Zoo is open every day of the year from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m with the exception of Thanksgiving (9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m) and Christmas Day (Closed). General admission during regular Zoo hours is $7 for adults, $3.50 for children 2-11 and seniors 62+, and children under 2 and Fresno Chaffee Zoo members are free. The mission of Fresno Chaffee Zoo is to provide a fun, unique and up-close experience that strengthens the bond between people and wildlife. The Zoo is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA).

I think we should move on from having dolphins in captivity now - we all know this isn't good for them.
