Nashville Zoo Plans To Ice Down Zoo Visitors On July 26

Frosty Fun for All at Nashville Zoo’s “Ice Day”

Cool off and beat the summer heat at Nashville Zoo’s seventh annual Ice Day celebration on Saturday, July 26.  Dive into an ice cream eating contest, slip and slide down an inflatable, and see many of the Zoo’s animals enjoying their own icy treats, like frozen grapes, turkey broth pops and chilled mealworms.

From 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., the Zoo’s Festival Field will be a flurry of frosty fun.  Blue Bell Ice Cream will offer free samples as well as ice cream eating contests for all ages.  Kids can splash down the inflatable water slide, participate in some soaking fun games, make their own ice treats and have their faces painted by a cool artist.  The Publix Rain Room and the Cool Zone Snow Tent offer guests even more heat relief.

To see some of the Zoo’s animals devour their own brand of popsicle, pick up a keeper talk schedule at the front gate.  Guests can win cool prizes, like an ice cream maker, by answering keeper talk questions correctly.  Several animal ice sculptures created by Specialty Ice Carvings will also be at some of the exhibits, like African wild dog, Eurasian lynx and African crested porcupine.

Ice Day is included with Zoo admission.  Some Festival Field activities have additional fees.  Ice Day is presented by Ewing Orthodontics, WhoYouWant2Be.org, Blue Bell, Kroger and AT&T Real Yellow Pages and supported by The Little Clinic, Lifeguard Ambulance Service, Channel 4, Party Patrol and Nashville Parent.

Nashville Zoo is accredited by the prestigious Association of Zoos and Aquariums assuring the highest standards of animal care and husbandry.  The Zoo is a non-profit organization located at 3777 Nolensville Road and is open every day except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day.  The mission of the Nashville Zoo is to inspire a culture of understanding and discovery of our natural world through conservation, innovation, and leadership.  For more information about Nashville Zoo, please call 833-1534 or visit our website at www.nashvillezoo.org.
