A Post Halloween Rhino Pumpkin Smash at Kansas City Zoo

Kansas City, MO - Join the Kansas City Zoo this Saturday, November 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. as Zoo Keepers toss and roll pumpkins to the Zoo’s animals. This enrichment activity is fun for the whole family.

Follow the Keepers and see how a variety of animals, including elephants, hippos, rhinos, meerkats and more, interact with these orange globes.

2009 Pumpkin Smash Schedule:

10 a.m. - Sea Lions at the Sea Lion Pavilion
10:30 a.m.- Meerkats (Discovery Barn and Africa)
11 a.m. - Squirrel Monkeys, and Hippos
11:30 a.m. – Rhinos, Golden Lion Tamarin (Tropics)
12 p.m. – Capybara (Tropics), Prevost squirrel (Discovery Barn), Gorilla
1 p.m. - Bat-Eared Fox (Africa), and Kangaroos (Australia)
1:30 p.m. - Red-Ruffed Lemurs (Africa), and Langurs
2 p.m. - Tigers
2:30 p.m. – Elephants, Orangutans, and Red River Hogs
3 p.m. - Camels
3:30 p.m. - North American River Otters

Kansas City Zoo is open daily from 9:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Kansas City, Missouri residents receive free admission in November with ID and proof of residency.
Daily Admission is only $5 through February 2010! Some animals may not be on exhibit due to weather.
2010 Friends of the Zoo Memberships are on sale now! Join FOTZ before December 31 and save $5.

The Pacaya Samiria National Reserve is a magical place.  The flora, fauna, remoteness and beauty are exquisite.  Another interesting aspect is how the indigenous people there live.  To learn more and see photos  taken by indigenous children in the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, you can visit ninosdelaamazonia.org
