Blackpool Sea Life Centre Aquarium is Launching Into Cyberspace With its Own Ipod Tour
Blackpool, UK - Blackpool Sea Life Centre Aquarium is launching into cyberspace with its own novel version of a popular new media tool! Most people have heard by now, of podcasts – video or audio snippets parked on the internet for anyone to access – but who ever heard of an Isopodcast? The Centre decided to provide downloadable audio tours on its website for people to play back as they walk around. “We thought it was a great way of providing the kind of detailed commentary that helps people get the most out of a Sea Life tour,” said marketing coordinator John Filmer. “It so happens that our most intriguing residents at the moment are the prehistoric-looking Isopods in our Scary Monsters exhibit, and it was this that prompted the idea of the Isopodcast.” John and his colleagues scoured the internet and discovered that Isopods, ugly insect-like creatures from the floor of the Pacific, have a bit of a fan-club in the world of modern music. And they managed to persuade Indie ‘electro’ outfit Pagan Wonderer Lu to allow the Centre to begin its new podcasting with a free-to-download rendition of the song ‘An Isopod is Cute in the Eyes of an Isopod.’ “We were amazed to discover a whole album’s worth of musical eulogies to what has to be one of the weirdest and ugliest creatures from beneath the waves,” said John. Visitors to www.sealife.co.uk/blackpool will find the song parked alongside the first instalment of the Sea Life audio tour; namely a detailed guide to the displays and residents of Scary Monsters.
