WHY: Every year over one million seabirds and 100,000 marine mammals and turtles die through entanglement and ingestion of litter, and it’s estimated that 80 per cent of this litter originates from land based sources.

This year as many as 60,000 Canadians will work together from September 19-27 to remove nearly 200 garbage trucks worth of trash (more than 135,000 kilograms) from shorelines and waterways during the 16th annual TD Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup.
