Houston, TX - Methai, Tess, Shanti, Tucker, and Thai invite you to explore their new home – their very LARGE new home! Did you ever wonder what a 10,000 pound animal eats every day? Would you like to know what it takes to give an elephant a pedicure? Join the Houston Zoo on Saturday, September 26, from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and learn about elephant diets, care, training, and more at our second Elephant Open House.

During the Houston Zoo’s third Elephant Open House, the brand-new, state-of-the-art elephant barn at the Houston Zoo’s McNair Asian Elephant Habitat will be open for exploration. Each elephant “bedroom” in the barn will highlight a different aspect of elephant care. Throughout the morning you can meet the keepers who care for our herd every day and learn more about these majestic animals that call the Houston Zoo home. The Elephant Open House also includes a continental breakfast.
