The North Carolina Zoological Park Council and Society's Board of Directors Meet Jointly

Asheboro, NC - The North Carolina Zoological Park Council and the North Carolina Zoological Society’s Board of Directors will hold their annual joint meeting on Wednesday, July 29, at 11:30 a.m., in the zoo’s Schindler Learning Center.
Council Chairman Scott Reed will preside.
The Zoo Council is a 15-member board appointed by the Governor to oversee the operation and development of the state zoo. The 25-member Society Board oversees the operation of the Zoological Society, the zoo’s nonprofit support organization. The two boards meet jointly once a year.
The July 27 meeting will include an update on recent developments at the zoo from Director Dr. David Jones. Board members will also be taken on a tour of two recently-completed exhibits, the “Acacia Station” giraffe deck and the “Honey Bee Exhibit.”
The next full business meeting for the Zoo Council is scheduled for November 4, 2009.
The zoo is an agency of the N.C. Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Dee Freeman, Secretary; Beverly Eaves Purdue, Governor.
