Cincinnati, OH - The Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden invites you to Meet-A-Zookeeper July 19-25 in honor of National Zookeeper Week. The Zookeepers are the backbone of the Zoo, working each day to keep the animals happy and healthy. These dedicated workers are the reason the Cincinnati Zoo is so special. Cincinnati Zoo visitors can Meet -A-Zookeeper all summer long! Keepers bring guests closer-to-the-action during daily feedings and encounters, as well as share fascinating behind-the-scenes information about the animals. Everything from polar bears and Sumatran rhinos to Asian elephants and Mexican wolves will be featured several times daily throughout the park. As the need to protect and preserve wildlife and vanishing habitats has increased, zoo’s roles as educators and wildlife ambassadors are more and more essential. National Zoo Keeper week is a time not only to celebrate the real heroes that continually work to educate the public and conserve wildlife, but to also honor and admire animal wildlife and their respective environments. As established in the House of Representatives Resolution #509, the purpose of this national awareness week is not only to inform the public about the zoo keeper profession, but also to raise awareness regarding the valuable contribution they make to the care and conservation of captive exotic animals.
