Phoenix, AZ - The original 80’s pop-rock band, the Go-Go’s rocked the stage Friday, April 24, 2009, at ZooBrew, one of the Phoenix Zoo’s largest annual fund-raising events.

“It was great to be a part of the Phoenix Zoo and perform for such a wonderful cause,” said lead singer Belinda Carlisle. “Everyone treated us so well and a couple of members of the band got to meet the elephants and giraffes, too, so it turned out to be a special day for us.”

Almost 2,000 guests enjoyed the evening, thanks to generous help from the more than 250 volunteers. Guests enjoyed beverage samples from 40 local breweries, wineries and national distributors, in addition to energetic performances by the Go-Go’s and local band 68 Guns.

“This was a successful event because of the involvement and support of our community,” said Bert Castro, President/CEO of the Phoenix Zoo. “These events are critical for us to continue to care for our collection and provide the wonderful family experiences the Phoenix Zoo is known for. Plus, it’s just fun to hear some good music on a beautiful night at the Zoo. We are already looking forward to ZooBrew 2010.”
