Beavers march for penguins Mon, 10/6/2008 - 8:27 AM — rudy

Over 100 Beaver Scouts from across Torbay walked the Clennon Valley nature trail to raise money for Living Coasts earlier this year. A total of £115.76p was raised - the cheque was presented to the penguins by members of 6TH Torbay Beavers, who organised the walk.

Living Coasts spokesperson Phil Knowling said: “It is great that young people have the enthusiasm and the commitment to do something like this for wildlife. They set a wonderful example.”

Torquay’s coastal zoo is home to nearly one hundred free-ranging penguins, as well as wading birds, sea ducks, fur seals and puffins. In addition, there is an underground mangrove forest with mudskippers, four-eyed fish, poisonous stingrays and horseshoe crabs.

Living Coasts is a registered charity. For more information ring (01803) 202470or go to www.livingcoasts.org.uk.
