Tanganyika is a new and relatively small zoo although we call ourselves a Wildlife Park. We have over 30 species of animals with the total number of animals being in the hundreds. The facility is privately owned by Jim and Sherri Fouts. Jim is the Vice-Chairman of the Zoological Association of America.
We are home to the largest collection of clouded leopards in the world and the largest collection of snow leopards in the US. In addition, we have some of the rarest animals in the US including South African Ratels, Fossa, Red Pandas, and White Handed Gibbons. We call ourselves a "wildlife park" because we put our focus on the exhibiting wildlife in a natural and aestically pleasing setting. We boast four interactive exhibits including: Lemur Feeding, Lori Feeding, Giraffe Feeding and a Kangaroo walk-about.
