Established in 1975, this is a rural community support based conservation project - it started out as a breeding centre for endangered Indian Crocodilians. 90% of the staff are from the local village, and most day to day needs (including feed) are sourced locally. It has developed into a tourist attraction and a centre for Conservation and Research for endangered species with a breeding programme for release into the wild. It is also a centre for environmental awareness and education. As a conservation tool we use the ancient art of puppetry and have set up a puppet theatre employing and training village youth to run this. We focus on rural environmental awareness and education
