Newport Aquarium showcases thousands of animals from around the world in a million gallons of water. This state-of-the-art facility was named the No. 1 aquarium in the Midwest in the Zagat Survey's U.S. Family Travel Guide in 2004 and the Best Rainy Day Outing in 2006 in Cincinnati Family Magazine. Like its sister aquarium, Adventure Aquarium, on the Camden Waterfront, Camden, NJ, Newport Aquarium is an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), a leader in global wildlife conservation. Newport Aquarium features 70 exhibits and 14 galleries, including five seamless acrylic tunnels totaling over 200 feet in length. You'll see history-in-the-making with our two extremely rare Shark Rays - Sweet Pea and Scooter - who are the stars of the only Shark Ray breeding program in the world. Their grace and beauty co-exist in the tank with powerful Tiger Sharks that are up to 10 feet in length. You'll marvel at 85 feet of acrylic underwater tunnels that wind their way through this 385,000-gallon tank. Walk over our see-through floor or peer through our picturesque bubble windows and get a view of this Atlantic Ocean exhibit like no other. Sand Tiger, Sandbar, and Nurse Sharks peacefully coexist with Southern Stingrays, several varieties of protected Groupers, schooling Jacks and Grunts. Relax as our adult Loggerhead Sea Turtle swims gracefully past you. And, as you leave, experience the Newport Aquarium from a whole new perspective - looking down and into the tank from one of the country's largest open-air viewing areas.
