Soul Fest

Soul Fest, now in its SEVENTH year, is a celebration of African American food, music, crafts and culture. It was created to celebrate the achievements of African Americans while educating Zoo visitors about their heritage, culture and wellness. The festival will showcase handmade arts and crafts by local and national artisans, and feature local businesses exhibiting their products and services. In addition, the festival will offer delectable Creole cuisine and authentic soul food dishes prepared by native Louisianans. Soul Fest will incorporate cultural awareness and community outreach with gospel sounds, R&B entertainment and hip-hop artists, setting the stage for smooth, rhythmic strolling under majestic 100 year-old oak trees.

Cultural celebrations are fun ways to learn about the world’s animals and peoples. Make Audubon's Mardi Gras Camp part of your child's celebration. Each day is full of animal exploration, scientific investigation, crafts and more at Audubon Zoo! Before and After Care is available – $7 for Before Care and $10 for After Care. This event is created for kids from Kindergarten to 5th Grade. Spaces are limited!

Evening snack and continental breakfast are included. When registering for dates (see below), you can get more specifics about themes and areas. This event is created for kids 5 years and older. Spaces are limited!

Applicants must be between the ages of 13-14, and able to make at least a one-year commitment to the program. Please email lmelancon@auduboninstitute.org to receive an application packet.
Aquacorps Teen Volunteer Program

Audubon Aquarium of the Americas Volunteer Department is currently accepting applications for its Aquacorps teen volunteer program. Applicants must be between the ages of 15-16, and able to make a commitment to volunteer at the Aquarium through the summer. Please email lmelancon@auduboninstitute.org to receive an application packet.
Aquavan Outreach Program
The Audubon Aquarium of the Americas Aquavan program is currently booking visits for the spring 2010 school semester. The Aquavan brings the excitement of the Aquarium to your classroom, allowing students to explore the teeming life of a coral reef, the natural treasures of a tropical rainforest, and much, much more! The Aquavan comes with amazing animals, enthusiastic presenters and an endless fascination of nature's wonders. Thanks to the generosity of Chevron Corporation, the Aquavan is able to offer one free visit per school year to all area Title 1 schools.
