The Rolling Dog Ranch

400 Rolling Dog Ranch Lane
Ovando, Montana 59854
United States

The Rolling Dog Ranch is a sanctuary for disabled dogs, cats and horses. The sanctuary is home to many types of disabled animals. Our residents include blind dogs, blind horses, deaf dogs, blind cats, and animals with other physical and medical disabilities like muscular dystrophy.

Although these animal may have disabilities, they do not consider themselves handicapped. They just want to get on with life and enjoy themselves. Thanks to the support of the sanctuary's friends, that's what they get to do here.

Yet these are the animals who are least likely to be adopted and the most likely to be euthanized in traditional shelters. That's why we focus on the disabled.

The ranch covers 160 acres of grassland in the Blackfoot River valley of western Montana. The sanctuary cares for about 80 animals, and is supported 100% by donations.

The Rolling Dog Ranch is the only sanctuary in the United States that focuses exclusively on disabled animals.

The sanctuary has also helped with research and does significant public education on caring for blind horses. The sanctuary has three websites on this topic, including www.blindhorses.org, www.blindappaloosas.org, and www.unwantedhorses.org.

Rolling Dog Ranch an Inspiration! Sat, 7/5/2008 - 2:34 PM — Joyful Paws

As the mom of a dachshund in a dog cart due to a spinal injury, I am in awe of what Rolling Dog Ranch does for animals.  These animals so deserve a chance in life and a chance to live a quality life, like Steve and Alayne provide for the animals on their ranch.  My hat is off to them!!!

Joyfully,

Barbara Techel, Mom to Frankie, the Walk 'N Roll Dog, www.joyfulpaws.com
