The National Zoological Gardens of South Africa encompasses 85-hectares in the heart of the city of Pretoria. More than 9500 animals are housed here, including those in our Aquarium and Reptile Park. We manage the only inland aquarium in the country. Several exotic animals are unique to the National Zoo and the only ones of their kind in South Africa; the Komodo dragon and koala. The zoo also manages two biodiversity conservation centres covering a collective area of over 9000-hectares.
