North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island

The North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island is located at 374 Airport Road, Manteo, NC. The aquarium is 68,000-sq. ft. building on 16.6 acres on the west side of Roanoke Island on the shores of the Croatan Sound. The 285,000-gallon Graveyard of the Atlantic exhibit features a 1/3 size replica of the USS Monitor surrounded by over 200 different fishes. Our signature animals are: river otters, alligators, sand tiger sharks, spedefish, sting rays and venomous snakes. Our newest exhibit is "Oceans Revealed: Power of the Planet" a stellar must see on your next visit. Outdoor features are a beautiful soundside overlook and Fossil Hunt. On-site vendors include the Aquarium Gift Shop, Good Life Gourmet food service and Foto FX souvenir pictures. The rental features are: 150 seat auditorium, class rooms, wedding and reception space, business and corporate meeting space. The Aquarium Pier at Nags Head will soon be a reality. Governor Perdue recently signed House Bill 628 to complete the process with construction beginning as early as May of 2009. Completion is expected to take about 16 months, The North Carolina Aquarium is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums since 1990.
