Franklin Park Zoo is a 72-acre site nestled within Bostons historic Franklin Park. Here, guests can experience the most innovative and intimate indoor gorilla exhibit in the world. Visitors to the signature Tropical Forest can stand face-to-face with the Zoos seven western lowland gorillas at one of five glass viewing stations in the state-of-the-art indoor exhibit. Its a truly unforgettable experience! While at Franklin Park Zoo, be sure to also visit the African lion in the Kalahari Kingdom, the tigers in the Tiger Tales exhibit, the Masai giraffe and Grevys zebra on the Giraffe Savannah, and the many other remarkable species that call the Zoo home. Throughout the summer, dont miss Butterfly Landing a seasonal exhibit featuring hundreds of free-flight butterflies.
Animal Collection: Visit The Tropical Forest to see one of the most innovative and intimate indoor gorilla exhibits in the world. This building is also home to numerous free-flight tropical birds, a warthog, ocelots, pottos, a mandrill, tapirs, ring-tailed lemurs and a pygmy hippopotamus. During the winter months, visitors flock to this tropical haven where the temperature is kept at a constant 72 degrees. Tiger Tales features the Zoos two tigers, Anala and Luther, and aims to educate guests about the illegal pet trade as well as the misinformation surrounding white tigers (Luther is white). Franklin Farm features farmyard animals, a brooder building, and much more. At the Touchable Barnyard, children of all ages, many of whom have never experienced life on a farm, are offered experiences with domestic animals, including sheep and goats. Giraffe Savannah features our Masai giraffe family Beau, Jana and Sox, as well as Grevys zebras. The Outback Trail offers a chance to experience Australias wildlife. In this exhibit space, stroll among kangaroos, emus, and sheep. Along the way, don't miss the kookaburras, with their distinctly unique calls, or the Matschies tree kangaroos. Kalahari Kingdom is home to our lion, Christopher. One of Franklin Park Zoos most impressive residents, Christophers majestic roars can be heard echoing throughout the park during the day. The Childrens Zoo is home to a plethora of Little Critters - reptiles, amphibians, porcupine, and prairie dogs. Also making their homes here are a pair of highly-endangered Amur leopards. Butterfly Landing is a butterfly enclosure filled with hundreds of free- flight butterflies. This tented exhibit also features several garden beds, a waterfall and pond, and soothing surround-sound music. (This exhibit is seasonal, open June through September) Serengeti Crossing is a 4-acre mixed-species exhibit of zebras, wildebeest, ostrich and ibex.
