Visitors also enjoy observing these interactions as well as the increased activity levels in the exhibits. To enhance the learning experience even more the zoo staff has and will continue to provide more natural plant scapes to recreate the exhibited animals wild habitat.

Some examples of mixed exhibits here at the Washington Park Zoo is the – South America exhibit – Rheas along with Llamas and an Australian area of Emus and Black swans.

New Primate House opening in 2008

The Washington Park Zoo will be opening the totally renovated Primate house spring of 2008.  Gone are the bars and tiled walls making way for more natural exhibits with glass fronts for the up close view.

The new exhibits will house the Hamadryas baboons and ring tail lemurs as before but we have added 2 male Black Handed Spider monkeys, a family of Cotton top Tamarins and Golden Handed Tamarins.
