Scarborough SEA LIFE and Marine Sanctuary offers a unique mix of indoor and outdoor displays. Visitors can expect to see a wide range of sea creatures and sanctuary animals from starfish to sharks and seahorses to seals all homed in displays that carefully re-create their natural habitat. There are 14 Humboldt Penguins all named after cartoon characters, 5 resident seals and 2 otters, brother and siter duo - Eric and Cherry. A very speical resident is our Loggerhead turtle, Antiopi who was rescued and re-homed at Scarborough SEA LIFE and Marine Sanctuary after suffering serious injuries in the wild.

Scarborough SEA LIFE and Marine Sanctuary opened a new Seal Rescue Centre in March 2008 taking injured and abandoned seal pups though the 5 R process - Rescue, Recovery, Rehabilitation, Release and Retirement. New for 2009: Turtle Sanctuary. Scarborough SEA LIFE and Marine Sanctuary will offer a refuge for vulnerable and endangered species of freshwater turtles as well as take part in a Europe-wide breeding programme designed to protect these amazing creatures.
