New Orleans, LA - Everything Audubon is so much easier with the launch of the new Audubon Nature Institute website at www.auduboninstitute.org.

From planning an event at Audubon Zoo or Aquarium of the Americas to submitting a job application, it's all on-line and user-friendly thanks to the updated virtual home of Audubon Nature Institute in New Orleans. Throughout the site, conservation vignettes remind site visitors that supporting Audubon is helping to save wildlife.

Zoological Society of London's (ZSL) Wild Child Survey Shows Children Need to See Live Animals

London, UK - Getting up close and personal with animals is the best way of inspiring children to protect the world's wildlife, a new survey has revealed.

Hundreds of school children from across the UK took part in the Zoological Society of London's (ZSL) Wild Child survey, which quizzed them on their attitudes to the natural world. When asked what would most inspire them to look after the world's wildlife, more than half said "seeing animals in real life" (52%).

GPS Enabled Zoo iPhone Application Launched at Houston Zoo

Houston, TX - The Houston Zoo is opening a new dimension in guest services with the launch of a GPS enabled Zoo iPhone application, one of only two zoos in the world, along with the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle, to offer such a service. The Houston Zoo's new free iPhone application displays guests' location on Zoo grounds using real-time GPS coordinates and allows visitors to access photos and videos of Zoo exhibits and animals and access daily Meet the Keeper Talks and presentations.

First Okapi Birth at the Lowry Park Zoo Since the Adult Animals Arrived in 2007

Tampa, FL - A rare okapi was born Saturday evening, October 3, at Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo in an exhibit area known as the Ituri Forest, named after the dense tropical rain forests in Africa where the species originates. The okapi calf, a female, is the first offspring for both parents and marks the first okapi birth at the Zoo since the adult animals arrived and were introduced in 2007.

Only discovered in the 20th Century, these large hoofed mammals are found in the rain forests of northern, central, and eastern regions of Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
